A night of nostalgia: Cairo celebrates its inaugural alumni reunion
The Business School hosted its first-ever social and networking event for alumni in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday 1 November 2023.
This long-awaited event brought together alumni from various walks of life, eager to reconnect with their alma mater and reaffirm their commitment to giving back to the Leeds community. Whilst it was a small gathering, the event served as a testament to the enduring bonds forged through the Leeds University Business School experience. Graduates spanning generations, from recent alumni to seasoned professionals, gathered at the picturesque venue in Cairo, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and celebration.
Faculty International Manager of Leeds University Business School, Ellen Wang, expressed her delight at the turnout and the enthusiasm of the alumni. She said, "This gathering is a testament to the strong sense of community that Leeds University Business School fosters. Our alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable success in various fields, and we are thrilled to reconnect with them. We are committed to nurturing this bond and creating opportunities for our alumni to give back to their alma mater and the larger community."
Many engaging discussions were exchanged, where alumni had the opportunity to share their experiences and insights. Topics ranged from current trends in sustainable business to the importance of alumni engagement. The interactive sessions served as a platform for alumni to express how keen they are to stay in close contact with the business school and contribute to the institution's growth.
Egypt Alumni Group Leader, Mahmoud Reda (MBA 2020) shared his thoughts on the event. "It's incredibly special to be back here with fellow alumni and Business School staff. I really appreciate the effort made by the Business School for hosting such a great gathering. Leeds played a pivotal role in shaping our careers, and this gathering has rekindled the spirit of camaraderie and the desire to give back to our beloved school. I am proud to be a Leeds alumnus and I’m excited to participate in future events".
