Chinese and UK business culture: an interpreter’s perspective

In this talk for Global Careers Month, Faruk Mardan will share the lessons he has learned about Chinese and UK business culture through his work as an interpreter.

More about the speaker

Faruk Mardan is a professional conference interpreter and translator working with Chinese and English, He trained in both translation and interpreting at the University of Leeds, and currently teaches Specialised English-Chinese Translation and Computer Assisted Translation in the Centre for Translation Studies. His interpreting work includes simultaneous, consecutive and remote interpreting in many fields, including diplomatic interpreting. Similarly his translation assignments cover many topics, but medical texts are a regular part of his working day.
