Study tour students join alumni for Frankfurt networking event

The Business School recently hosted a study tour in Frankfurt for 29 students across the Economics and Accounting and Finance departments.

One activity organised as part of the programme was an alumni networking and social event which aimed to connect alumni across Germany and provide current students with the opportunity to connect with our alumni community. 

Two alumni joined us for the evening reception in Frankfurt. This was the first time these alumni had attended an alumni event since graduating, and both cherished the chance to meet each other and share their stories about their time at Leeds. Despite both having distinctive career journeys across different industries, both our alumni felt that Leeds had positively contributed to their career successes. 

For the students, this event provided a unique opportunity to learn about different industries which were unfamiliar. Students also took the chance to seek advice on how to enhance their skills and experiences to better equip them for job prospects after graduation. The students relished the chance to expand their networks and understand how impactful studying at Leeds can be. 

Eva, who was a student attending the event shared her thoughts about the evening: “This networking experience was truly insightful. I had the chance to ask Martin about his career journey and the challenges he faced, and he kindly shared valuable advice on how to approach the job search process. It was inspiring to hear from someone who once stood where we are (as an international student) now and has gone on to build a successful path. It was a reminder that with the right mind set and perseverance, opportunities do come”. 

Beccy Noble, Faculty International Officer said: “the evening was hugely successful in showcasing our wonderful Leeds community. Our students were excellent Leeds ambassadors demonstrating a willingness to learn from industry professionals through insightful conversations. Our alumni were fantastic at sharing their experiences and gave meaningful guidance to students. I am sure that conversations will continue beyond the event and students will apply what they learned in their future endeavours.”
