Grow & Connect: Campus Gardening Session | 100 Hours for the Planet

Join LUBS alumni for a special community gardening session at the University of Leeds Sustainable Garden as part of our global 100 Hours for the Planet volunteering campaign

Get your hands in the soil and your hours on the board. This is your chance to come back to campus, reconnect with the place that shaped you, and do something genuinely good for the planet, all in one afternoon.

Register for Campus Garden Session/ 100 Hours for the Planet

Hosted in partnership with the University of Leeds Sustainability Team, the session will begin with a short welcome and introduction to the Sustainable Garden, its history, gardening philosophy, and the principles behind how it's run. From there, we'll split into small groups to take on the week's gardening tasks, which may include sowing seeds, planting out, preparing new beds, weeding, mulching, and composting.

Towards the end of the session, we'll harvest some of the garden's seasonal produce for volunteers to take home, and wind down with a cup of herbal tea made from leaves grown right here in the garden, alongside some snacks. A gentle, grounding end to an afternoon well spent.

New to the garden? A tour of the space will be available, with stories about its origins and the sustainable practices that bring it to life.

Every hour you volunteer counts towards our collective global goal of 100 hours mapped to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

Date: Tuesday 3rd June 2026

Time: 1 pm to 3 pm

Location: Sustainable Garden, Chancellors Court, University of Leeds (near the Roger Stevens Building)
