The MSc Management Consulting degree offers in-depth insight into the consultancy industry and prepares students for a career in the consultancy market. The course covers theoretical knowledge through modules on professional practices and frameworks, gives guidance into industry challenges and crucially, gives practical experience through the 'Management Consulting Project'. This involves working with a client to tackle an organisational challenge and making meaningful recommendations. This is invaluable for those pursuing a consultancy career, as the course blends academic study with real-world application.

What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most about your course?
It is difficult to pinpoint one particular part of my studies at Leeds as the best. There were many things I enjoyed about the course and fantastic moments whilst studying. The faculty staff were incredibly knowledgeable and made the course engaging, it is through their continuous support that the study environment was so inclusive and enjoyable. In addition to this, the value of the 'Management Consulting Project' cannot be understated. This provided me with a unique opportunity to gain real experience of how consultants interact with professionals and operate within an organisation.

What was your impression/experience of the student union, the city of Leeds and Yorkshire? Did you do any extracurricular activities during your studies? How did you enhance your personal development? What would you recommend to future students?
I love Leeds and consider it a second home. The city has so much to offer with something for everyone, from great nightlife to museums and galleries. More widely, Yorkshire is a wonderful place with lots to explore. There is a real mix- you can visit cities such as York, or if you enjoy getting outdoors there are great trips to places like Roundhay Park.

Outside of my studies, I played on one the University football teams. This was great for meeting and socialising with new people. The University offers the opportunity to play a whole range of sports, join different clubs and be a member of a society which is awesome for making new friends!

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
Since graduating, I have acquired a vast amount of experience across the industry. I successfully joined the graduate scheme at PA Consulting and have been promoted twice in quick succession to the rank of consultant.

My work has involved collaborating with prestigious Defence and Security and Financial Services organisations across a range of topics. Most notably, I have worked with a Global Tier 1 Bank and spent six months in Sydney, Australia supporting the country's leading bank. I'm excited to build on my experiences and to work alongside more amazing people.

What are your ambitions for the future?
As a Management Consultant, my ambition is to continue developing my skillset, enhancing my learning, and building my expertise to make a difference for our clients. By seeking out challenging projects and diverse experiences, I aim to add value by delivering impactful recommendations and solutions that bring real change.

Additionally, I hope to continue building strong relationships with both colleagues and client stakeholders who are subject matter experts and at the forefront of the industry.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to work in a similar role or industry to you?
Make the most of the people around you. Engage with lecturers and faculty members, whose knowledge is key to your success. Take advantage of opportunities with industry professionals, as their insights are invaluable, and spend time with fellow students to understand different perspectives. Overall, everyone wants to help and support your progression!
