After decades of experience in the industry, where I honed my skills as a leader driving projects across various organisations, I found myself grappling with the ever-evolving demands of the business environment. Recognising the need to stay ahead in this dynamic landscape, I decided to return to campus. The comprehensive modules offered by the MBA programme appeared to be the perfect match for my needs. Alongside enhancing my expertise in familiar areas, the programme provided an invaluable opportunity to explore new fields that are critical to my future career aspirations.

What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most about your course?
There were so many aspects of my time at LUBS that I thoroughly enjoyed. From the state-of-the-art facilities at the Business School and the four libraries on campus to the diverse and inclusive culture of the University, each element contributed to an enriching experience. However, what stood out most for me was the exceptional teaching delivered by many outstanding professors. I never imagined that I would gain such invaluable academic insights, which not only restructured and refined my understanding but also allowed me to reflect deeply on my professional experience.

What was your impression/experience of the student union, the city of Leeds and Yorkshire? Did you do any extracurricular activities during your studies? How did you enhance your personal development? What would you recommend to future students?
I have had the privilege of living in Leeds for over three years, and I can confidently say it is one of the most ideal cities for international students. The vibrant city centre, coupled with the charming suburbs, creates the unique and welcoming character of Leeds. Beyond the city, there are other enticing destinations nearby, such as York, Manchester, and Sheffield, all just a short train journey away- perfect for those new to the area. For nature enthusiasts, the Peak District National Park is less than an hour’s drive. Additionally, the Student Union organises a wide range of activities for group activity lovers, offering wonderful opportunities to meet new people and enjoy time beyond academic study.

How did your experiences at Leeds University Business School help you to advance your career?
My MBA programme not only enhanced and strengthened my expertise but also empowered me to explore new dimensions in my professional journey. The most remarkable and unexpected aspect was how it equipped me to forge a new career path focused on transferring knowledge from university to industry. I came to understand the barriers that often hinder the adoption of research outcomes in practical settings. Today, I am proud to serve as a bridge between academia and industry, facilitating collaboration and ensuring that both sides can fully reap the benefits of their shared potential.

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
Since my MBA graduation, I have been offered the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership abilities within the context of the UK’s diverse and dynamic cultural environment. This experience, coupled with my research undertakings, allowed me to showcase not only my ability to lead but also my capacity to adapt and thrive in complex and ever-changing circumstances. Through navigating challenging scenarios, I honed my resilience, a quality that proved invaluable in managing multifaceted projects and fostering collaboration across diverse teams. These experiences reinforced my confidence in addressing intricate problems with a strategic and innovative approach, preparing me to excel in both academic and professional spheres.

What are your ambitions for the future?
I aspire to become a recognised expert in digital transformation, with a particular focus on fostering a robust digital culture and successfully implementing digital transformation projects. My goal is to bridge the gap between technological advancements and organisational adaptability, ensuring that businesses not only adopt new technologies but also cultivate the cultural mindset necessary to sustain innovation and growth in the digital age.
