WERD hosts the annual 'Celebrating Diversity' event in support and recognition of students' diverse backgrounds and cultures.
On Friday 10 May, the WERD Department hosted its third annual ‘Celebrating Diversity’ event, with more than 170 staff and students participating in the day. The event featured a ‘Diversity Walk’ where students shared some key messages on diversity, equity and inclusion while wearing sarees and ethnic wear to a fusion of music from diverse cultures.
Several students performed at the event including a collaboration with one School of Music student playing the traditional Chinese string instrument the guzheng while a fellow student sang traditional Indian, Chinese and Scottish songs; others sang traditional Chinese, and Japanese songs; two former students gave a Bollywood dance performance, and a Chinese rapper finished the celebrations.
