Dr. Mariana Estrada-Robles is a researcher in the field of entrepreneurship and family business. Since joining Leeds University Business School in 2017 she has focused mainly on examining the intricate dynamics of entrepreneurial families and the influence of institutional contexts.
Dr. Estrada-Robles has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles in international journals such as Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research. She is also part of the editorial board for the Journal of Family Business Management. She has been a visiting faculty member at Audencia Business School in France. Additionally, Dr. Estrada-Robles, alongside Dr. Alex Kevill and Dr. Selen Kars-Unluoglu, successfully completed a BA Leverhulme Small Research Grant for a project titled “Mind the Gap: Investigating the Transfer of Digital Capabilities from the Classroom to the Business in SMEs.” This collaborative effort focused on exploring knowledge transfer in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Her teaching commitments include designing and delivering modules for postgraduate and undergraduate students in higher education institutions in the UK, Mexico, France and International Summer Schools.Prior to studying her PhD in the UK, Dr. Estrada-Robles worked at EGADE Business School for Latin America for 6 years, managing postgraduate programs in Peru, Ecuador, Panama, and Colombia, and facilitating academic trips to institutions such as Yale University and Texas A&M. Besides her teaching experience, she also supervises PhD students, postgraduate and undergraduate dissertations and assesses start-up projects. Dr. Estrada-Robles holds an MBA and a marketing degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Dr Estrada-Robles’ research interest is in the field of family entrepreneurship, specialising in entrepreneurial families and family business. She is also interested in exploring informality, institutions and culture within entrepreneurship and recently expanded my resesarch interests and started researching third age entrepreneurship and digitalisation in SMEs.
