Thirty Years of International Business Review and International Business Research
The survey of 30 years of publications in International Business Review by Peter Buckley and Mark Casson illustrates the cumulative strength of international Business (IB) research.
IB researchers have been unafraid of tackling big issues but this tendency needs to be reinforced in view of current challenges to globalization and the impacts of technological change that are often mediated through multinational enterprises. Challenges for researchers include the need to embed phenomena-driven research in a clear theoretical framework and to develop data sets that are directly focused on clearly specified research questions. Greater attention to context, particularly an historical perspective, would aid the development of the myriad research opportunities that extant IB research has unfolded.
