IB Student Devesh Saboo wins Leeds University Business School Partnership Awards 2024
Many congratulations to Devesh Saboo, an IB student, who was the winner of the Leeds University Business School Partnership Awards 2024 in the category of ‘Contribution to Student Experience'.
This award recognised his efforts in creating and managing an online community that connected current students with alumni, fostering a supportive and dynamic network.
Since arriving in the UK from India in September 2023, Devesh has immersed himself in the academic and extracurricular offerings at Leeds. His interest in entrepreneurship led him to the university's Entrepreneurship Society, where he became a regular attendee at workshops and guest lectures held at Helix, the entrepreneurial wing of the university. Here, he gained insights and inspiration, which he channelled into developing his own e-commerce business. Since October 2023, he has been working on his business ideas, aiming to launch his start-up after the academic term ends to comply with visa regulations.
In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Devesh has been an active participant in co-curricular activities across the campus. His involvement in the Buddy Scheme and attendance at various focus groups have enhanced his social and research skills. These experiences have enabled him to interact with a diverse group of people and gain valuable market research insights.
In February 2024, Devesh’s team won the Leeds University Business Challenge, a four-week business simulation competition, by making over £8 million in profit.
As he looks forward to more opportunities, Devesh remains committed to making the university a vibrant place for student involvement and growth.
