Economics shapes the world around us, driving decision making at the highest levels of government, business and society. The Economics Department at Leeds University Business School represents a policy-relevant, pluralistic approach to economics, that seeks to address and resolve real-world challenges through impactful research and teaching grounded in real-world insight.

Our research

Our research combines and applies a diverse set of economic ideas and methods. It aims to transform the economy in ways that promote better lives for all. We demonstrate a high capability for interdisciplinary as well as disciplinary research.

Our research centres around four key themes: Labour, Wellbeing and Behavioural Economics; Macro-Finance; Development, Trade, and the Environment; and Research on Pedagogy.

Our teaching
