AFSG Minor Exploratory Grant Funding - Simon van Baal

This grant will examine how scores on the main measurement tool for gambling harm (Problem Gambling Severity Index) relate to real-life experiences of gambling
CDR member Simon van Baal has received an AFSG Minor Exploratory Grant Funding. Together with his colleagues, Philip Newall and Lukasz Walasek, Simon will examine how scores on the main measurement tool for gambling harm (Problem Gambling Severity Index) relate to real-life experiences of gambling. At the moment, an arbitrary cut-off is used to decide whether gambling harm is present - the research team believes they can use natural language processing to promote our understanding what kind of person/gambling harm profile might be behind different patterns of answers on the PGSI.
