Research interests
My research is grounded in a social constructivist perspective and is concerned with how human subjects perceive and react to the accounting, assurance and governance mechanisms which characterise the functioning of modern capital markets. My more recent research deals with four sub-themes/focal points:
-
evaluating existing trends in extra-financial reporting and management by organisations;
-
operationalising progressive accounting and governance schematics which recognise the importance of environmental and social capital in addition to economic ones;
-
advancing the use of governance principles and practices, including different types of assurance, to achieve long-term sustainability and
-
providing practical guidance for institutions on how to evaluate environmental and social issues and hold organisations accountable for non-financial performance.
