Profile
Chloe’s primary research focuses on corporate governance, financial reporting, and auditing. She explores the intricate relationships between corporate governance mechanisms and their effects on financial reporting quality, managerial disclosure behaviours, and auditing practices and how financial reporting quality and auditing practices affect strategic corporate decisions and financial market activities in various contexts, including entrepreneurial firms, family firms, initial public offerings (IPOs), corporate failure, and emerging markets. Her works have been published in several international peer-reviewed journals, such as The British Accounting Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, the International Review of Financial Analysis, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for international peer-reviewed journals in accounting, business, and finance.
Before pursuing her academic career, Chloe worked for several years in the banking industry. She obtained her BA in Public Finance from National Cheng Chi University in Taiwan, her MA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Leeds (Distinction) and PhD in Accounting and Finance, also from Leeds. Before joining LUBS, she worked as a lecturer (assistant professor) in accounting and finance at the University of Hull and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Durham. While working at the University of Hull, she served as Program Director for three BSc Accounting partnership programs with HKU SPACE from 2013 to 2019. During her tenure the programs secured initial accreditation from both the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and CPA Australia, as well as successfully retained program accreditations with ACCA and HKICPA.
Between 2020 and 2024, Chloe was our Program Director for MSc Accounting and Finance and is also a personal tutor providing academic guidance and personal circumstances support. The program achieved an overall satisfaction score of 95% in 2024. She currently teaches our LUBS5017 Advanced Financial Reporting and LUBS5982 Financial Reporting and Analysis courses.
Research interests
Chloe's research interests are in the areas of corporate governance, financial reporting, auditing, family firms, IPOs and corportae failure.
