Intra-Hospital Transportation Problem: A Two-Phase Bayesian Deep Reinforcement Learning Framework.

Professor Sibel Salman spoke with us at our latest TOSCA Seminar to explore, Intra-Hospital Transportation Problem: A Two-Phase Bayesian Deep Reinforcement Learning Framework.

We had the pleasure of hosting Professor Sibel Salman, who visited the Analytics, Technology and Operations Department, Leeds University Business School and TOSCA and delivered an excellent talk entitled “Intra-Hospital Transportation Problem: A Two-Phase Bayesian Deep Reinforcement Learning Framework.”

The presentation addressed the intra-hospital transportation problem, highlighting key factors that can enhance operational performance, including reducing walking time, ensuring equitable task distribution, and minimising delays. A real-time solution methodology based on a Bayesian neural network was also introduced. In addition, results from a case study conducted in Ankara were presented.

The talk was followed by an engaging discussion and Q&A session. TOSCA members also had the opportunity to meet Professor Salman in one-to-one meetings.
