Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
I chose to pursue an MSc in Digital Information Management and Systems Innovation because of my fascination with the rapidly evolving digital landscape and its impact on organisations.  

This degree appealed to me for several reasons: 
- Relevance in the Digital Age: With the increasing digitisation of information and business processes, I saw this field as crucial for the future of work and innovation. 
- Interdisciplinary Nature: The program combines elements of information science, business management, and technology, providing a holistic view of how digital systems can drive organisational change. 
- Career Opportunities: I recognised the growing demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between technical systems and business needs. 

What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most about your course?
During my MSc the diversity I encountered was undoubtedly the most impactful aspect of my studies. This diverse environment not only enhanced my intercultural competence but also provided unique insights into various perspectives. The interactions with peers from different backgrounds shaped my overall experience and continue to influence my future endeavors.  

The programme's practical approach, combining academic learning with real-world applications, was another standout feature that prepared me for the challenges of the digital business landscape. 

The comprehensive nature of the course, including its engaging content, knowledgeable faculty, and emphasis on global business trends, contributed significantly to my educational journey. Group projects and discussions fostered a collaborative environment, honing my problem-solving skills and ability to work in diverse teams. The programme's focus on systems thinking and innovation equipped me with the critical skills needed to navigate unstructured environments. Overall, while it's challenging to pinpoint a single best aspect, the combination of diversity, practical learning, and global perspective made my time at Leeds an enriching and transformative experience. 

What was your impression/experience of the student union, the city of Leeds and Yorkshire? Did you do any extracurricular activities during your studies? How did you enhance your personal development? What would you recommend to future students?
My time at the University of Leeds was truly enriching, with the city's vibrant student-centric atmosphere being a standout feature. Leeds is perfectly tailored for student life, offering a blend of academic excellence and social opportunities. The city's compact layout and efficient public transport make it incredibly easy to navigate, whether you're heading to lectures or exploring the lively city center. 

The Leeds University Union (LUU) played a crucial role in enhancing my experience. It consistently organised a diverse range of events that contributed significantly to both my career prospects and personal growth. From professional networking sessions to cultural celebrations, the LUU's offerings helped me develop valuable skills and connections beyond the classroom.

One of Leeds' major advantages is its central location in England, making it an ideal base for exploring other parts of the country. This accessibility allowed me to broaden my horizons and make the most of my time as a student. For future students, I highly recommend actively participating in LUU events, taking advantage of Leeds' strategic location for travel, and fully immersing yourself in the city's diverse social scene. Your time at Leeds is what you make of it, so embrace every opportunity to create a well-rounded and fulfilling university experience. 

How did your experiences at Leeds University Business School help you to advance your career?
The MSc in Digital Information Management and Systems Innovation equipped me with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills highly valued in the digital business landscape. The program's focus on bridging theory and practice through real-world projects and case studies significantly enhanced my problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking. These skills have proven invaluable in my professional roles, allowing me to tackle complex challenges and drive innovation. Additionally, LUBS' strong industry connections provided numerous networking opportunities through guest lectures, industry events, and collaborative projects, exposing me to potential employers and current industry trends. 

The diverse international environment at LUBS broadened my global perspective and enhanced my intercultural communication skills, which have been crucial assets in today's interconnected business world. The career services and personal development programs played a pivotal role in shaping my career path, offering valuable workshops on CV writing, interview skills, and career planning. The guidance from career advisors and mentors was instrumental in identifying and pursuing career opportunities aligned with my goals and strengths.  

Overall, my time at LUBS provided me with a powerful combination of academic knowledge, practical skills, global perspective, and professional networks, which have been fundamental in securing rewarding positions and continually progressing in the dynamic field of Technology and Management. 

How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights? Since leaving Leeds University Business School, my career has progressed significantly, albeit with some initial challenges due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After graduating, I faced a tough job market in the UK, a situation many graduates encountered during that time and I made the strategic decision to move to London to broaden my opportunities. 

My persistence paid off when I secured a position as an analyst at Magna, working with global investments. This role proved to be a crucial stepping stone in my career. It allowed me to apply and refine the skills I had acquired at the Business School, particularly in data analysis and strategic thinking. The experience I gained at Magna was invaluable, as it exposed me to the intricacies of global financial markets and investment strategies. Building on this foundation, I was able to further develop my analytical capabilities and industry knowledge, which ultimately led to my current position as a Data Analyst. I'm currently working on developing various skills so I can excel in this space. 

What are your ambitions for the future?
Looking ahead, my ambitions are firmly rooted in the skills and experiences I've gained since graduating. My current role as a Data Analyst has solidified my passion for working with data and deriving meaningful insights that drive business decisions. In the near future, I aim to: 

1. Expand my expertise in advanced analytics techniques, particularly in machine learning and artificial intelligence, to stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving data science field. 

2. Transition into a role as a Digital Transformation Specialist, where I can apply my knowledge of digital information management and systems innovation to guide organisations through their digital transformation journeys. This would allow me to play a pivotal role in implementing new technologies and processes, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and system migration. 

Long-term, I aspire to: 

1. Move into a leadership role, such as Head of Analytics or Chief Data Officer, where I can shape an organisation’s data strategy and foster a data-driven culture. 

2. Give back to the community by mentoring aspiring data professionals and sharing the knowledge and insights I've gained throughout my career. 

These ambitions reflect my commitment to continuous learning and growth, values that were instilled during my time at the Business School and have been reinforced throughout my professional journey. 

What advice would you give to anyone looking to work in a similar role or industry to you?
For anyone looking to work in a related field, I would offer the following advice based on my experience and industry insights: 

Gain practical experience through projects. Work on real-world data analysis projects, either independently or as part of your coursework. This hands-on experience is invaluable and will help you build a strong portfolio to showcase your skills to potential employers.  

Network and build relationships within the industry. Attend data hackathons, join professional organisations, and connect with others in the field. Networking can lead to mentorship opportunities, job leads, and valuable insights into the industry.  

Lastly, failures are a way to move forward so always learn and grow from them. 

How was the transition to living and studying in a different country? Did the university offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
The transition to living and studying in a different country was both exciting and challenging. Moving to Leeds from my home country was a significant step that required adaptation on multiple fronts. The Global Community team organised social events and cultural activities, helping me meet other international and local students. Attend orientation events- these are great opportunities to meet other students and learn about University services. Join student societies - this is an excellent way to make friends and engage in activities you enjoy. Most importantly because this is one place where I struggled a lot - manage your finances carefully. Understand the cost of living and plan your budget accordingly. 

What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? Would you recommend the Business School to others?
My defining memory of studying at Leeds University Business School is a simple yet profound one: the walk back from the library and University after long hours of work. Despite the exhaustion from pouring effort into assignments and coursework, these walks always had a rejuvenating effect. There was something special about the journey home - perhaps it was the sense of accomplishment, the fresh air, or the quiet moments of reflection. These walks became a ritual that helped me recharge and put the day's challenges into perspective. 

The Business School experience went far beyond academic learning. It instilled valuable skills and core values that have shaped my professional approach and personal growth. The rigorous coursework, collaborative projects, and exposure to diverse perspectives all contributed to developing a well-rounded skill set.  

I'd definitely recommend Leeds University Business School to others, not just for the quality of education, but for the overall experience it offers. The combination of academic excellence, practical skills development, and personal growth opportunities makes it an ideal place for those looking to advance their careers in the business world. The values and skills I gained during my time at Leeds continue to influence my work and decisions, making it a truly transformative experience. 

What advice would you give to students to help them get the most out of their time in Leeds?
Engage actively with your course. Attend lectures, participate in discussions, and take advantage of office hours. The faculty at Leeds are experts in their fields and engaging with them can deepen your understanding and passion for your subject. 

Embrace the diversity. Leeds attracts students from all over the world. Make an effort to connect with people from different backgrounds. These interactions will broaden your perspective and potentially lead to lifelong friendships. 

Get involved in extracurricular activities. Join societies or clubs that interest you. Leeds University Union offers a wide range of options. These activities can help you develop new skills, make friends, and create a well-rounded experience.

Leeds is a vibrant city with a lot to offer. Take time to discover its parks, museums, restaurants, and cultural events. The city's compact nature makes it easy to explore on foot or by public transport. 

Make use of the career services, writing center, and other support services. These resources can significantly enhance your academic performance and career prospects. 

Balance your time. While studying is important, find a balance between academic study, your social life, and personal time.
