Professor Konstantinos Bozos

Profile

Prior to joining the Leeds University, I worked as a financial analyst and management consultant, specializing in budgeting and financial control, turnaround management and mergers and acquisitions. I have also worked as equities trader and investment advisor for multinational asset managers, while I have also done freelance consultancy for services firms in the financial sector across Europe (UK, Greece, Cyprus).

I am  a research associate at the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the Georgia State University, USA. My work with CIBER involves the examination of the idiosyncratic and systematic components of firm performance across developed and emerging markets during periods of economic munificence and hostility, the determinants of M&A activity and performance in international financial markets, and cross-border investment decisions.

In 2018 I co-found the International Symposium in Finance, which is supported by a world-class scientific committee. The Symposium brings together an international group of academics conducting research in finance and related areas from business, economics and other disciplines. The ethos, organisation and content of the Symposium is driven by the following shared values: Interdisciplinarity, Impact, Sustainability, Boldness, Diversity, Collaboration and Collegiality.

I act as Associate Editor of the Rutgers Business Review, http://www.rbusinessreview.org/, and regularly act as a reviewer for the Strategic Management Journal, The European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions and Money, the International Review of Financial Analysis, the British Accounting Review,  the International Institute of Forecasters and others.

I am the co-chair of the thematic unit: ‘Essentials of International Finance for IB Educators’. Faculty Development Pedagogy Workshop, GSU, CIBER (Centre of Excellence designated by the U.S. Department of Education) and Track Chair for “International Finance, Accounting and Corporate Governance”, European International Business Academy (EIBA) Conference, December 2019, Leeds, UK. I am a member of the Greek Chamber of Economics, and an external reviewer for the for the ESRC,  the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong and the Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency of Greece (HQAA).

Research interests

My research interests span the areas of International Accounting and Finance and their intersections with Institutions and Governance. My main focus is on corporate decisions of all forms, and in particular Mergers & Acquisitions and large-scale capital investments. In particular, my work seeks to improve our understanding of how the context, (i.e. ownership, governance, the reporting environment, the economy, the broader institutional environment, etc.) contributes in shifting decision-making and reporting behaviour and managerial priorities in general. By addressing areas of strategic priority for funding bodies and research grant agencies, my research has to date attracted over £60,000 in funding from sources such as the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC, UK) and the University of Leeds.
