Profile

I joined the Economics Department as a Lecturer in Economics in September 2021.

Previously, I worked as a Lecturer in International Political Economy at King’s College London (2019 - 2021), where I taught classes on the Political Economy of Finance and Crises as well as Macroeconomics.

I obtained my PhD on the role of flexible exchange rates in emerging market business cycles from Kingston University in 2019.

Research interests

My research crosses disciplinary boundaries and draws on macroeconomics, political economy, and finance. I’m interested in the interaction between finance and the real economy; especially sources of cyclical dynamics, instability, and rising inequality. I’ve done research on business and financial cycles; the role of exchange rates in emerging market business cycles; financialisation & income distribution, as well as growth models in advanced countries. My work has been published in the Cambridge Journal of Economics, Energy Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Review of International Political Economy, and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics.

I’m co-leading a work package on financial cycles and capital flows in growth models as part of the Leverhulme Trust Grant The Political Economy of Growth Models in an Age of Stagnation.

I’ve co-created the open-source website DIY Macroeconomic Model Simulation.
