A study co-authored by Professor Andrew Robinson is referred to in an FT online article examining a growing trend in businesses selling a majority stake to an employee-ownership trust.
The 2020 study by professors Andrew Robinson and Andrew Pendleton (The University of New South Wales), found that 60% of business sales to employee ownership trusts had been at market value over the previous six years, around a third at a discount to market value, with a small minority gifted.
This work was facilitated by the White Rose Employee Ownership Centre – a research centre that brings together academics, practitioners and policymakers from the field of employee ownership – co-founded by Professor Robinson.
