Researchers from Leeds University Business School and the School of Law have contributed to the G20 (an international forum for governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union) in the recently published “T20 Brasil Communiqué”.
Professor Annina Kaltenbrunner (Leeds University Business School), Dr Bruno Bonizzi (Hertfordshire Business School), Dr Karina Patricio Ferreira Lima (School of Law, University of Leeds), Dr Karsten Kohler (Leeds University Business School) and Dr Guilherme Klein Martins (Leeds University Business School) are leading a research project, funded by the MDB Challenge Fund, that explores enhancing Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) capacity through local currency lending. The team created policy recommendations based on their findings from this project for the T20 Brasil Communiqué - a report that informs the final report.
Dr Karina Patricio Ferreira Lima says: “We hope these recommendations will inform the final report of the Brazilian Presidency of the G20 in October, whose core priorities include promoting global governance reform. A crucial element of this reform must be the enhancement of sustainable financing through the increased capacity of MDBs to lend in local currency.”
The G20 aims to address major global economic issues, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development. The forum holds annual summits where leaders discuss and coordinate policies to promote global economic growth and stability.
