How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?

I chose to study at Leeds University Business School because of its reputation for teaching and research excellence, evidenced by the triple accreditation, but also because of its reputation for student friendliness. My course was unique because of its great balance between theory and practice and the focus on employability.

I first studied Chinese and International Relations and I was keen to combine my language skills with business insight to gain a deeper understand of the global business environment. The MSc International Marketing Management is unique because of the great balance between theory and practice and because of its focus on employability.

What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?

Now that I’m into the second semester, I’m really enjoying working on the marketing consultancy project as it gives me the chance to put into practice the theory studied in class.

I’m developing digital marketing strategies to build brand awareness in the US for a growing European e-commerce company. This live business, offers delivery across Europe and the US. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be involved.

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way?

I would like to combine my teaching experience with my international marketing expertise to work as a marketing consultant for companies working in the education industry or in other service industries.

Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about?

I was awarded the Dean’s UK/EU Excellence Scholarship from Leeds University Business School when I applied.

What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region?

The facilities are such a high quality and designed to meet students’ different needs from seminar rooms to large lecture theatres and group rooms and group booths both at the Business School and at the libraries to best suit group work.

The teaching staff are very knowledgeable, approachable and willing to offer support to their students. In my course, I had the chance to interact and work with students from a number of countries and I found the cross-cultural communication stimulating. I’ve enjoyed working on the marketing consultancy project the most as it gave me the chance to put into practice the theory studied in class.

Leeds University Union is a very friendly environment and covers a wide range of societies to suit all tastes. Thanks to student societies I took on new sports like jiu jitsu and tried different types of dancing like Scottish and folk dancing. Thanks to the Language Zone and student volunteers I got to keep practising my spoken French and Chinese by chatting to native speakers once a week.

Leeds is a very safe, easy to navigate and student-friendly city. It is also well connected to other UK major cities like London and Edinburgh as well as to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here?

I would definitely recommend Leeds University Business School because of its outstanding facilities and teaching, support offered to students and the range of extracurricular activities.
