Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
The all-encompassing nature of the course appealed to me. It encompasses a wide range of compulsory courses, such as advanced financial reporting and corporate finance, which are essential for laying a solid foundation in the financial field.
The prestigious reputation of the University of Leeds in the fields of business and finance education was also of paramount importance. Furthermore, the teachers, who are experienced and prestigious in their respective fields, offer tremendous assistance to my academic and professional pursuits. Not only have they helped me establish a solid foundation for academic paper writing and professional knowledge in accounting and finance during my studies at the University of Leeds, but they have inspired me in numerous ways.
In addition, the practical orientation of this degree has also intrigued me. It provides opportunities for conducting real-world case studies and internships, enabling me to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and enhance my employability.
How did your experiences at Leeds University Business School help you to advance your career?
The comprehensive curriculum closely related to the industry has equipped me with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the fields of accounting and finance. For example, through the corporate finance courses, I mastered some analytical methods such as foreign exchange arbitrage that are highly valued in the financial industry.
Meanwhile, the school's good reputation and extensive alumni network have opened the doors to numerous internship and job opportunities for me.
Seminars and guest lectures held by industry experts have provided me with valuable insights into the latest trends and practices in this field. Such exposure has made me more competitive and adaptable in the job market, enabling me to stand out and pursue a successful career.
What are your ambitions for the future?
My studies have made me full of anticipation for my future development. Firstly, I hope that I can join one of the Big Four accounting firms to engage in auditing work and become a professional in the industry as soon as possible through my step-by-step efforts. In addition, I also hope that I can become an outstanding finance professional, such as working in a bank or in other investment-related projects.
How was the transition to living and studying in a different country? Did the university offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice?
The University, along with the fellow students and faculty members on campus, has been an invaluable source of support in both my academic pursuits and daily life. Although I was originally apprehensive, adapting to life in a foreign country was far more manageable than I had anticipated. I would advise prospective students not to be overly worried.
What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? Would you recommend the Business School to others?
My defining memories of studying here are forging friendships. Studying here was extremely challenging at first, but through communication with friends and teachers around me as well as their assistance, I overcame these difficulties and gradually developed my confidence and resilience, enabling me to face any adversity and progress towards my goals.
I think the learning experience at the Business School is unforgettable and highly memorable. Studying here has truly had a significant impact on my life.
