Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
The Leeds MSc in Accounting and Finance equips students with advanced knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and analytical skills that are highly sought after in today’s global business environment. It prepares individuals for lucrative and diverse career opportunities in fields like corporate finance, investment banking, auditing, and consulting. Additionally, this degree fosters critical thinking, strategic decision-making, and expertise in navigating complex financial systems, making it ideal for those aspiring to leadership roles. The learning methodology also allowed for lots of group work and knowledge sharing.
What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most about your course?
I enjoyed the detailed course content and the excellent lecturers with a friendly, technical and interactive approach to learning. I loved the group work and diversity in the class.
What was your impression/experience of the student union, the city of Leeds and Yorkshire?
Leeds University Business School is the best School for international students. The programmes and activities are inclusive and across all cultures and interests. It also has a large international community making settling down easier.
How did your experiences at Leeds University Business School help you to advance your career?
I have been able to apply the knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and analytical skills in my day-to-day work. It has also enhanced my strategic thinking skills and ability allowing me to lead and grow in my roles after graduating.
How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
I have grown into an international role leading teams across different countries. I have also expanded my skills and work in consulting roles.
What are your ambitions for the future?
To be able to lead a multinational audit team across various geographical locations in an international organisations.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to work in a similar role or industry to you?
Learning never ends. Keep learning. Your professional development and technical skills depend on your willingness to learn from reading, people, programs, assignments and experiences. Also, to thrive as a professional, remain grounded in core values like being trustworthy, being ethical, being honest, being dependable and being empathetic and considerate.
What is your defining memory of studying here? Would you recommend the Business School to others?
I made good friends and built a good network. I also heighted my ability to research due to the awesome libraries in the University.
What advice would you give to students to help them get the most out of their time in Leeds?
Go and experience life, people and ensure you have a full blown academic, social and cultural experience. The School has everything you need to succeed.
