Tell us about your degree - why did you choose it? What elements of the degree inspired you to study it?
I chose BSc Banking and Finance due to the hugely varied optional modules and ways to tailor the degree, giving you the opportunity to learn subjects including Accounting, Economics, Maths, Statistics, and Business in the quantity that suited you, alongside the core Finance learning.
What was the best part of your studies here? What did you enjoy the most about your course?
I most enjoyed the career focused aspects such as speakers from various incredible companies and roles and opportunities such as the Investment Banking simulation.
What was your impression/experience of the student union, the city of Leeds and Yorkshire? Did you do any extracurricular activities during your studies? How did you enhance your personal development? What would you recommend to future students?
Leeds is a brilliant city to live in as a student. There are so many things to take part in both in and out of the University. I was a member of LUBSSoc (Leeds University Business School society), and taking part in the annual ball and going on the trip to Budapest was a real highlight of my university journey.
How did your experiences at Leeds University Business School help you to advance your career?
Due to the varied modules and their application to real careers, it was really helpful to get a sense of what suited you and get advice from lecturers/ tutors/ career advisors to make the right steps to achieve that.
How has your career progressed since leaving the Business School? Have there been any notable highlights?
Since graduating I have interned and returned full time as an Investment Banking Analyst. Receiving my job offer was a real highlight, and proved to me the knowledge and skills gained through my time at university were applicable to my career.
What are your ambitions for the future?
I hope to continue my journey in investment banking and see where this opportunity can take me.
What would you say is your defining memory of studying here? Would you recommend the Business School to others?
I would recommend the Business School due to the varied curriculum and opportunities provided, alongside the really friendly and approachable culture of all of the staff and students - everyone wants you to succeed.
What advice would you give to students to help them get the most out of their time in Leeds?
Take every opportunity you are offered, whether that be a new module, a career focused activity, or trying something new. There is something for everyone here and this is your opportunity to find it!
