Why did you choose Leeds University Business School? 

I first heard of the Leeds University Business School when I was researching top universities for Accounting and Finance. I wanted to make sure that the teaching is high quality and the environment I will spend my 3 years in would help me achieve my goals and grow as a person, so I chose to study here. It has been great so far and I would not trade it for anything else. 

What do you enjoy most about your studies? 

I like to challenge myself and the modules on my course allow me to do that every day. From analysing case studies to devising a business strategy for a business simulation, I am able to improve valuable skills such as critical thinking and analytical skills that will put me in a better position when I apply for internships and graduate jobs. 

Have you taken up any of the extra opportunities available to you? What was your experience of these? 

I work as a Link to Leeds Ambassador and my role is to communicate with prospective students who are interested in studying at the University via instant messaging, emails, social media and chat events. I also share experiences as a student at Leeds and lead campus tours.  

In addition to that, I also work as an Admissions Intern for the Business School, representing the Accounting and Finance division on open days. These roles have helped improve my public speaking skills and professionalism. I have also made some great friends along the way. 

Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about? 

I am very grateful to be one of the recipients of the Business School International Excellence Scholarship, which I received automatically as part of my application to study at Leeds for demonstrating academic excellence. 

How has your experience been with the facilities, the staff, your peers and the student union? 

My experience has been great. Everyone here is very welcoming and supportive, which has definitely helped ease my transition when I first arrived at Leeds. As for the student union, Leeds University Union has a lot of opportunities available. I would definitely recommend students to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Student life isn’t just studying, make it memorable! 

What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain from your degree course will help you in your future career plans? In what way? 

My goal is to become a chartered accountant. I believe that I have a great advantage being a Leeds University Business School student, as the Business School is triple accredited and I have been given many opportunities to enrich my experiences while studying here. 

Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here? 

Yes! I am very proud to be a student at the Business School. There are so many opportunities available for students. Not only did I develop practical skills that give me the edge on life, but I have also grown so much as a person. Leeds is a very student friendly city, with a relatively low cost of living as well. It’s been great studying here. 

If you are not from the UK, how was the transition to a foreign country? Did the University offer support or services that you found helpful? Can you offer any advice? 

The transition to Leeds was smooth sailing, I was able to cope with it very well. To future students, if you need support, don’t be afraid to ask for help from the support available at the University. Many of us have been in a similar position as you are, and we are more than happy to have a conversation with you if you want to. Join societies, try something new – you’ve only got one shot as a university student!
