How did you hear about the Business School and why did you choose to study here?
Leeds University Business School has a great number of experienced teachers and provides students with world-class research resources. The Business School was recommended to me by friends who had previously studied here.
What is the best part of your studies? What are you enjoying the most?
The best part is the way in which we learn. Our teachers are keen to really help us understand and to enable us to utilise our learning in real practise. Through this teaching style, I am more confident applying my learning to similar areas of study, and this way, I will not forget what I have practised.
What are your career aspirations? Do you think the experience and skills you will gain on your course will help you in your future career plans? In what way?
I want to be a financial professional in a top 500 company or a securities company. Communication and presentation skills are so important in these industries, and the ability to use professional software is emphasised for these kind of jobs. My course has provided me with chances to gain and practise these skills. Another good habit I formed here is to keep updated on what’s going on in the world around me. I read the news every day, which I hated before, but now I find it very beneficial.
Do you have any noteworthy achievements from your study at the Business School that you can tell us about?
I am a course representative for MSc Accounting and Finance. This is a great opportunity as I can work towards a better experience for all students, and my peer students have gradually built up trust in me.
I also joined a business simulation competition - The International Youth Innovation & Enterprise Skills Competition. Our team members really bonded, I was so pleased to have the opportunity to forge deep friendships with students from all over the world. I was delighted when we won Gold Award.
What is your impression/experience of the facilities, the staff, your peers, the student union, the City of Leeds and the Yorkshire region?
Our teachers are experienced and friendly. They are willing to help us whenever and whatever they can. While they have strict requirements on coursework, we benefit greatly.
My peer students are all excellent learners. It is an honour to complete my programme here with them and our teachers.
I like the atmosphere of the University, the food at the Refectory is delicious, and my favourite café on campus is The Edit room.
What would you say your defining memory of studying here was?
It will be the knowledge web I build up here. In the past, my knowledge of Accounting and Finance was not consistent across all areas. As such, I was not aware of how key theories related to each other, and this makes it feel more difficult to consider all key issues. With the help of my teachers, my knowledge has become broader so my way of thinking is more clear.
Would you recommend the Business School to others who are considering studying here?
Yes, I will recommend our Business School to my junior fellow students for sure. In fact, some of them who is in their final year of the undergraduate have already applied and been admitted by the Business School.
