Profile
Dr. David Schulzmann is a Lecturer in International Business at the Department of International Business and the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds (CIBUL). Prior to his current role, he held an appointment at the Aalborg University Business School in Denmark. His academic journey includes a PhD and an MSc. degree in International Business and Innovation Management, which he pursued jointly as part of the Sino-Danish Centre for Education and Research in both China and Denmark.
Beyond academia, David has gained practical experience in various industries. He has worked within the realms of renewable energy, automotive, and biotechnology in countries such as Denmark, Germany, Singapore, and China. His diverse background enriches his teaching and research endeavors.

Dr David Schulzmann’s research interests span several areas:

Strategic Management of Headquarters and Subsidiaries: He delves into the dynamics between developed and emerging economies. Specifically, he explores micro-level and meso-level aspects of subsidiary management, collaboration determinants within multinational enterprise (MNE) networks, subsidiary mandates for knowledge-intensive activities (such as R&D), and the dual embeddedness of subsidiaries.

Digitization in International Business: David investigates the impact of digitization on global value chains (GVCs) within MNEs. His curiosity extends to concepts like the Metaverse and its transformative effects on international business.

Sustainability in International Business: He also examines sustainability aspects, including the role of alternative proteins in transforming the agri-food industry.
