Professor David Spencer comments on the four-day working week
On 24 January Professor David Spencer was featured in an article for Eminetra discussing the introduction of a four-day working week.
In the article titled ‘New hope for working four days a week after moving to work from home’, Professor David Spencer suggests that lowering the working week to just four days is beneficial, not just for employees, but also for the employer.
Professor Spencer, Head of Economics at Leeds University Business School, commented:
For workers, the idea is that additional holidays increase autonomy, improve well-being and reduce stress. There are also benefits for employers. Employees who have moved to short weeks show that employees are just as productive when they are well-rested and focused, and companies can reduce sick leave.
