Dr Basu comments on proposed Facebook rebrand
Shankha Basu, Associate Professor of Marketing, has been quoted across international press on Facebook's planned rebrand.
On Tuesday 19 October, The Verge reported that Facebook is planning to rebrand itself with a new group name, due to be announced next week. The move would likely position the flagship app as one of many products under a parent company overseeing brands such as Instagram and WhatsApp.
Shankha Basu, Associate Professor of Marketing, has been quoted in a Reuters article commenting on the recent criticism of Facebook’s business practices.
Having a different parent brand will guard against having this negative association transferred into a new brand, or other brands that are in the portfolio
