Appointment of Permanent Head of International Business Department

We are delighted to share the news that Professor Mohammad Faisal Ahammad has been appointed as the permanent Head of the International Business Department at the University of Leeds.

This appointment follows a highly competitive and rigorous external recruitment and selection process conducted in July 2025. The process involved careful consideration of a wide pool of candidates, ensuring that the department would be led by someone with not only proven academic distinction but also the leadership qualities required to take the department forward in a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.

Professor Ahammad is no stranger to this role, having successfully served as Interim Head of Department for the past eighteen months. During this period, he has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication, and vision. His time as interim leader has been marked by a clear commitment to academic excellence, an inclusive working culture, and stability during times of challenge and transition. Under his guidance, the department has continued to grow in reputation, research strength, and student experience.

Reflecting on his appointment, Professor Ahammad remarked:
