Alumni build connections in Jakarta

The Business School recently hosted a networking and social event in Jakarta, bringing together alumni for an evening of connection and conversations.
Alumni came together for a relaxed evening of networking, enjoying drinks and canapés at JimBARan Lounge in the Ayana Midplaza Jakarta. The event was hosted by Kirsty Setz-Clarke, International Recruitment and Marketing Manager, and Professor Jonathan Winterton, Professor of Work and Employment.
Kirsty said, “It was a pleasure hosting this event for our alumni team, watching as new arrivals turned up to the venue and saw familiar faces of friends they had made during their studies. There was lots of talk about living in Leeds, the first time for many leaving home and living abroad. From which accommodation they lived in, where they used to love to eat out, (a certain famous bakery beginning with G featured often), friends they had in common at Leeds and connecting the dots between friends they now had in common back home in Jakarta. I was told about the first large alumni event that took place in December 2024, bringing together the largest number of Indonesian alumni for Leeds University for the first time, The hope is that something similar can be arranged again this year, so I would look forward to supporting this and taking part when it is arranged. It’s great to see everyone catching up with old friends and making new ones. I love that studying at Leeds University Business School is such a great experience that our graduates want to come together and reminisce.”
The event brought together alumni from a range of graduating years and programmes. Our graduates have gone on to excel in diverse roles, from a Vice President of Operations at an agritech company driving end-to-end farming solutions to a Strategy Management Officer at a state-owned electrical company. Their career paths highlight the breadth and value of our alumni network and reinforce how Leeds University Business School offers internationally recognised, impactful study opportunities for those looking to advance in the business field.
The Business School looks forward to hosting similar events in the future to strengthen our global alumni community, so keep checking our website for our latest events, news and updates and see how you can get involved.
