Corporate Wisdom Series: An evening with Leeds United Foundation CEO Frances Milner
On 13 November the Business School welcomed CEO of Leeds United Foundation, Frances Milner, who shared insights drawn from a distinguished career in senior leadership roles within the charity sector.
Frances is a Leeds alumna and her extensive experience includes positions at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, Cancer Research UK, Maggie’s, and the Prince’s Trust.
Hosted by Professor Iain Clacher as part of the School’s “Corporate Wisdom” series, the event provided attendees with Frances's perspectives on effective leadership and the importance of building strong and lasting relationships, and creating the conditions in which teams can succeed.
She encouraged leaders to “love what you do” and “have a vision of what you want to achieve”. Furthermore, that compassion and authenticity are essential qualities in guiding organisations through both growth and adversity, but with the clarity and courage to make difficult decisions.
Importantly Frances is driven by social purpose as well as advocating continued learning, seeing objections and challenges as a building process to making things better.
The “Corporate Wisdom” series continues to bridge the gap between academia and real-world leadership, bringing industry leaders to campus to inspire our community of alumni and business professionals.
