Dr Shankha Basu’s research referenced in Psychology Today

Dr Shankha Basu’s research has been referenced in Psychology Today, in an article discussing the connection between global identity and a sense of personal responsibility towards the environment.

Dr Basu, Lecturer in Marketing, co-authored a paper titled ‘Global identity and preference for environmentally friendly products: The role of personal responsibility’, investigating the link between a person’s sense of global identity and their attitudes and behaviours towards the environment.

The research investigated whether the fact that someone sees themselves as a citizen of the world means they feel a stronger sense of personal responsibility towards the environment and are more inclined to behave in a sustainable way.

The article discusses the results of the studies which collectively show that global identity can lead to environmentally friendly behaviour.
