ATOD PGR workshop - Review Literature, Theorizing, and Theoretical Contribution
ATOD PGRs took part in an engaging workshop exploring literature review, theorising, and theoretical contribution in research.
We are delighted to share that on the of 12 March our Analytics, Technology and Operations Department (ATOD) PGRs had the opportunity to attend a fantastic workshop on 'Review Literature, Theorising, and Theoretical Contribution'. This was designed and delivered by Professor Chee Yew Wong. The session was highly interactive, with our PGRs asking thoughtful questions, sharing ideas, and contributing to some really rich discussions. A huge thank you to Chee for giving so generously his time and expertise to support our PGRs.
The workshop provided our PGRs with practical, real-world skills in navigating and synthesising existing scholarship, a crucial foundation for any research project. By exploring how to move beyond simply summarising literature towards actively theorising and making a theoretical contribution, PGRs gained insight into what reviewers genuinely look for in high-quality research work. The interactive format allowed them to apply these concepts in their work, learning how to identify gaps in the literature, position their own research within broader theoretical debates, and articulate the originality of their contribution with greater confidence.
Workshops like this make a real difference, and we're fortunate to have colleagues who are so committed to supporting our PGR community. Building a strong research culture around our PGR community is something we care deeply about in Analytics, Technology and Operations Department, Leeds University Business School, and sessions like this are a big part of that. And thank you to all the PGRs who came along and made it such a lively and productive session. Your enthusiasm and willingness to engage are what bring these events to life. Thank you to our wonderful PGR Mustafa Kamel for organising.
