Tell us a bit about yourself, your background and what made you choose the University of Leeds?
I am currently working as a Data Analyst in the financial services sector. The University of Leeds has always been my top choice because of its exceptional academic standards, strong QS ranking, and the rich multicultural environment it offers through its diverse societies, events, and focus on student well-being.
Why did you choose to study your particular course?
The MSc International Business program is highly practical, offering extensive hands-on learning through its balanced mix of essays, presentations, and examinations. Moreover, the availability of optional modules such as Global Value Chain, European Business, and the opportunity for a study abroad semester makes the course truly distinctive and globally oriented.
What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?
My experience of living and studying at the University of Leeds has been truly enriching. The structure of lectures followed by interactive seminars made the course highly engaging and easy to comprehend. Additionally, being an active member of societies such as the Book Club, GOGA, and the Women in Leadership Society allowed me to connect with diverse individuals and broaden my cultural and social perspectives.
What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?
Leeds is an incredibly student-friendly city, offering everything one needs within easy reach. The city centre, grocery stores, banks, and student accommodations are all conveniently accessible, making day-to-day life smooth and hassle-free for international students. The city’s vibrant yet safe nightlife, along with its diverse range of global eateries and cafes, adds to its charm. Moreover, Leeds is well-connected by transport, making it perfect for weekend getaways and day trips to nearby destinations.
What would you say about the learning and the career support facilities in your academic School or Faculty and at the University in general?
The Careers Centre has truly been a lifesaver for me, both during and after my time at the University. It played a key role in helping me secure a part-time position as a Link to Leeds Ambassador by providing valuable interview preparation support. Beyond that, the networking fairs and company visits organized by the Centre were incredibly insightful and beneficial. The Career Centre’s online platform also proved invaluable—it assisted me in refining my CV, preparing for assessments, and even renting formal attire for interviews, making the entire career preparation process seamless and supportive.
What have you been doing since finishing your studies?
I am currently working as a Data Analyst for the financial sector.
What company are you working for, what is your role, and what does it involve?
I work for Third Bridge Group Limited as a Data Analyst .My role involves a bit of research in terms of meta data capture, consolidating products such as primers and maps, data cleanups and duplicate checks for the better tagging of data.
How do you think the skills and knowledge you developed at Leeds whilst studying your Masters helped with your career? Did you create any industry links or gain any experiences that were beneficial?
The career fair has been highly helpful as I got to network with the employees with the company I am working in. Apart from that the opportunity to take Microsoft Office assessments, SPSS lectures has been highly helpful.The strong alumni network has also helped me a lot.
Now that you’ve graduated, what would you say to students thinking about studying your course, do you believe your investment into the course was worthwhile for your career?
I would wholeheartedly recommend the MSc International Business course at the University of Leeds to anyone considering it. The program not only builds a solid academic foundation but also focuses heavily on practical learning, which really helps bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. The course encourages critical thinking through diverse assessments and offers flexibility through its range of optional modules, allowing students to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals.
What makes the experience even more rewarding is the incredible support from the Careers Centre and the wider university community. From networking fairs and company visits to career guidance and interview preparation, every resource is designed to help students succeed. Personally, these opportunities played a major role in shaping my professional journey and gave me the confidence to pursue my current role in the financial services sector.
Looking back, I can confidently say that my investment in this course was truly worthwhile – not just for the career prospects it opened up, but for the personal growth, global exposure, and lifelong connections I gained along the way.
