Chartered ABS Fellowship for Dr Maria Hussain

On 19 May Dr Maria Hussain was awarded a Fellowship from the Chartered Association of Business School (Chartered ABS).

Chartered ABS Fellowships are awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to our mission to provide support for the UK's business schools. Fellows are nominated from academia and from those we engage from fields such as industry and public policy.

Dr Hussain, who is an associate Professor in Management and Organisations, and Director of Student Equity received the award in recognition of their contribution to the Chartered ABS’s mission over the course of several years.

In addition to supporting the Chartered ABS mission, this year’s fellows were also recognised for their exceptional contribution to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through their professional work and within the broader field of business and management education.

The Chartered ABS said: “Throughout her career, Maria Hussain has demonstrated a deep and sustained commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a particular focus on the intersection of race, religion, and gender. Her dedication is evident in her involvement in initiatives that extend beyond her immediate workplace, including her Leeds Institute of Teaching Excellence fellowship which is focused on ‘enhancing the value placed on diversity’. This work has culminated in a museum exhibit called ‘Muslims in the North’, which was featured by the BBC. Maria is an active contributor to the Chartered ABS by serving on the EDI committee and making numerous contributions to Chartered ABS events.”
