Santanu Sarkar, Professor of Labour Relations at XLRI, Xavier School of Management in India has been appointed as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Business at Leeds University from 2023-26. Prof. Sarkar was Fulbright Senior Research Fellow at ILR School of Cornell University, NY in 2012-13, Eureka Erasmus Mundus Visiting Research Fellow at York Management School, University of York, UK in 2009, Visiting Research Fellow at Freie University, Berlin and Leeds University Business School in 2023, Visiting Fellow at Tamkang University, Taipei in 2007, National ChengChi University, Taipei in 2016-19 and 2023, Visiting Professor at Tamkang University in 2015. He has published in British Journal of Industrial Relations, Journal of World Business, Industrial Relations Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Industrial Law Journal, International Journal of Manpower, Employee Relations, Economic and Labour Relations Review, Asian Business and Management, and Economic and Political Weekly among others. He is currently the Associate Editor of Employee Relations.
Research interests
His area of research includes cross-national and cultural issues in labour relations and HRM, attitudes toward union membership, global union federations and their global campaigns in the Global South, contingent workforce, and labour market flexibility.
