Profile
I joined the University of Leeds as a Lecturer in Economics in 2026. Previously, between 2023 and 2026, I was Senior Researcher at the Oxford Department of International Development (University of Oxford), working with the Young Lives (YL) Study team—YL is a longitudinal study on the causes and consequences of childhood poverty. Between 2012 and 2023, I was based in Peru, working as Senior Researcher at the Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE). I also worked at the Research Division of the Central Bank of Peru, as Senior Economist.
Research interests
My research is focused on (i) studying the causes and consequences of investments in human capital over the life course in low- and middle-income countries, and (ii) the impact of public policies and behavioural interventions on human development. For (i), I actively use data from the Young Lives study in India, Ethiopia, Peru and Vietnam, collected between 2002 and 2023. For (ii), I have evaluated the impact of large-scale cash transfer programmes and educational reforms. I am actively working with the Ministry of Education in Peru on measuring the impact of a behavioural, growth-mindset intervention among primary school students.
