Profile

Dr Ying Zhang is a Lecturer in Digital Transformation and AI for Business at Leeds University Business School. Before joining Leeds, she was a Research Associate at Newcastle University Business School, contributing to AI safety research within the EPSRC-funded National Edge AI Hub. She received her PhD from Surrey Business School, specialising in trust and privacy in blockchain technology. She is also a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in China, an accreditation equivalent to the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Research interests

Her research examines contemporary socio-technical challenges associated with the adoption and use of digital technologies, particularly blockchain and AI, across individual, organisational, industry, and national levels. Her work addresses socially significant issues including trust building, privacy externalities, decentralised finance, employee behaviour in digitally transforming organisations, and the future of work. Methodologically, her research draws on experiments, surveys, interviews, case studies, systematic literature reviews, text analysis, and econometric methods.

Her research has been published in journals including Annals of Tourism Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Finance and Economics, and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics.
