Profile

Dr. Yang Zhang's study falls into the realms of network economics and behavioural operations management. His works have appeared on flagship/top journals including Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Operations Management. Yang has PI-ed, co-PI-ed and co-I-ed projects funded by British Council (UK), National Natural Science Foundation of China (with performance rating A+ 项目后评估:特优), National Science Foundation (US), Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (Canada) via Institutional Grant.

Yang received a dual-title PhD degree in Business Administration & Operations Research from The Pennsylvania State University (US). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, UK).

Yang has served as a referee for Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Games and Economic Behavior, etc.

Research interests

Yang’s research concerns strategic player behaviour and its implications on operations and pricing decisions. He is particularly interested in such behaviour in a network context, and investigates the problems through both theoretical and experimental methods. Most of Yang’s works lie at the intersection of two research areas: network economics and behavioural operations management.

Student education

Dr. Zhang has taught operations management, procurement management, advanced spreadsheet modelling, VBA, Power BI, cloud computing, supply chain modelling, game theory, and design of experiment (among others) to MBA, graduate, and undergraduate students in Business School and Industrial Engineering in UK, China, Germany, and United States. At Leeds University Business School, he delivers courses on spreadsheet modeling for decision making (PG) and business analytics (UG).
