MBA Alum Abhilash Ramesh Shines as Bright Mind Award Finalist and BRICS Summit Delegate

Leeds University Business School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of MBA alumnus Abhilash Ramesh (MBA 2022), who has been shortlisted for the prestigious Bright Mind Awards

Adding to this accolade, Abhilash has also been selected to represent India at the upcoming BRICS Summit.

The Bright Mind Awards sought innovative and practical consulting solutions to real-world challenges, with a highly competitive application process that received over 200,000 submissions. Abhilash’s entry, which showcased projects from his MBA journey alongside key consulting projects from his career, addressed the growing congestion and transportation issues in metropolitan regions in India. His proposed integrated solution focused on leveraging public transport systems and facilities more effectively.

Reflecting on his achievement, Abhilash shared:

Being shortlisted for the Bright Mind Awards is an immensely gratifying milestone. This recognition is not only a testament to my passion for consulting but also highlights the impact of the incredible learning journey phases. The guidance and support I received from the Leeds University Business School community have been instrumental in shaping my approach to tackling real-world challenges. This reaffirms my belief in the value of creative and practical consulting solutions to solve real-world business problems.

Abhilash, who actively tracks opportunities and competitions released by public sector entities, was inspired to apply due to his passion for creating social impact through consulting.

"For me, as a management consultant, the most rewarding experience is seeing a solution I propose being implemented. That hope inspired me to apply."

For those inspired by his experience, Abhilash encourages others to seek out similar competitions:

"These platforms challenge your thinking and allow you to contribute to meaningful initiatives. My key advice would be: Don’t overcomplicate things! Many of the world’s most complex problems might have simple yet impactful solutions."

Alongside his success in the Bright Mind Awards, Abhilash has been selected to represent India at the upcoming BRICS Summit. While final details on the event and his role are yet to be confirmed, he is looking forward to engaging with global leaders and advocates.

"I’m looking forward to representing my nation on such an important platform, engaging with talented advocates and delegates, and learning from their diverse perspectives."

Reflecting on his time at LUBS, Abhilash credits the MBA programme with shaping his approach to problem-solving:

The consulting challenges and projects I undertook during my MBA curriculum have been invaluable. They’ve allowed me to test theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios, which has greatly shaped my problem-solving abilities.

We are incredibly proud of Abhilash’s achievements and wish him continued success in his career and at the BRICS Summit.
