Leeds University Business School achieves “Level 4 – Transforming School” in the 2025 Positive Impact Rating

Leeds University Business School has once again been recognised for its social impact and sustainability achievements by the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) 2025.
Leeds was one of 86 business schools from 28 countries worldwide that took part in the rating this year and achieved Level 4 – Transforming School status. Level 4 signifies that a school is: “Showing a positive impact culture, embedded in governance and systems, with visible results in many impact dimensions.”
The PIR is a rating conducted by students, for students. Students worldwide assessed their business schools on how they perceive their positive impact in the world in areas such as governance, culture, learning methods, public engagement and student support.
This year, for the first time in the rating’s six-year history, PIR introduced a Faculty Survey, which enables a comparison between student and faculty perspectives. This dual-stakeholder lens allows schools to surface alignment, expose blind spots, and foster a more coherent and collaborative approach to societal impact.
Dr Jyoti Mishra, the School’s Director of Sustainability, commented:
“At the Business School, we are committed to embedding sustainability into everything we do. By drawing on the diverse expertise of our students, staff, and partners—and guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals—we are working to tackle global challenges, reduce our environmental impact, and shape a more sustainable future.
We are dedicated to creating a greener School, educating responsible business leaders, fostering transformative research, and building the infrastructure that supports sustainable practices across all aspects of our work. This rating is a fantastic endorsement of all the hardwork across our community.
Professor Niall Hayes, Deputy Dean added:
"We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Level 4 – Transforming School status in the 2025 Positive Impact Rating. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, collaboration, and passion of our students, staff, and partners who have worked tirelessly to embed sustainability into the heart of our School. It is especially meaningful that this rating is driven by student voices, reflecting the lived experience of our community and our shared commitment to creating positive change.”
