Ready to apply for the Leeds MBA programme?

Before applying for the Leeds MBA please check that you meet the entry requirements. You may wish to find out more about the course at an open event, online session or international fair.

Please read through the checklist below before applying online.

Application checklist

Your application should include:

  • A completed application form 
  • Two references (one academic and one professional)
  • Copies of degree transcripts and certificates
  • A full curriculum vitae
  • Your GMAT score report (if applicable)
  • Your approved English Language test* (if applicable)

*Applicants who have not yet completed an approved English language test may apply for the Leeds MBA prior to taking a test.  

Your application will not be considered until all documents are received.

Closing dates:

Places for the full-time Leeds MBA programme are limited so you are advised to apply early.

Our closing dates for 2017 entry are:

  • International applicants - 30 June 2017
  • UK/EU applicants - 31 August 2017

You need to submit two references, one academic and one employer.

Your academic referee:

  1. Should not be related to you by blood or marriage
  2. Should be qualified to comment on your academic ability, if possible at the highest academic level in which you have studied
  3. Should include the following information:
  • How long and in what capacity the referee has known you
  • A summary of what the referee considers to be your main strengths
  • Detailed information on your academic results
  • An assessment of your suitability for the Leeds MBA programme
  • A comment on your English language proficiency if your native language is not English, including your ability to speak, write and comprehend English.

Your employer referee:

  1. Should not be related to you by blood or marriage
  2. Should be qualified to comment on your work performance and behaviours and should ideally come from your present or most recent employer 
  3. Should include the following information:
  • How long and in what capacity the referee has known you
  • A summary of what the referee considers to be your main strengths in the areas of a) initiative, b) diligence, c) flexibility, d) group working, e) critical/analytical abilities
  • An assessment of your suitability for an intensive management education programme
Application process
Stage 1: Initial application review We will review your MBA application form, GMAT score, CV and references to consider the strength of your application across all areas. If you are successful at this initial stage you will be invited for interview.
Stage 2: Interview Where possible we will conduct a face-to-face interview. You will be interviewed by a member of MBA staff or the Admissions Director on campus, in country or by telephone.
Stage 3: Decision After the interview a final decision is made by the MBA Admissions Team. We will take all of our entry criteria into consideration when evaluating your application, as well as your post-MBA career goals and whether the Leeds MBA is likely to help you fulfil them.
Stage 4: Accepting your offer Once you receive your offer, we normally allow four to six weeks to accept and confirm your place. Once you have accepted your offer of a place you will be required to pay a deposit (currently £1500) before you receive your CAS for visa purposes. When you arrive in Leeds you will be required to show original or certified copies of your degree transcripts and certificates before you will be able to register.
Stage 5: Coming to Leeds The starting date for 2016 entry is: 12 September 2016. Particularly for international students we recommend that you arrive in Leeds at least one week before this to allow you to settle in to your new home.

Scholarships

We offer a number of part scholarships worth up to 50% of the total fee to candidates who can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and career progression. All candidates who are offered a place on the Leeds MBA programme will automatically be considered.
