Experience

Before joining Leeds University Business School in May 2001, Virginie Pérotin was a Senior Research Economist at the International Labour Office in Geneva (Switzerland). In the past, she has held research positions at the London School of Economics and the Centre d'Etude des Revenus et des Coûts (CERC), a research centre of the French Prime Minister's Office in Paris. Prof. Pérotin has also acted as a consultant to the World Bank, the OECD and the European Commission on issues of profit-sharing, employee ownership and employee involvement schemes. She is a member of the Council of the International Association for the Economics of Participation and of the editorial board of Economic Analysis.

Research

Comparative empirical research on the effects of firm ownership and governance on performance; public, private and third sector comparisons; employee ownership and profit sharing; worker cooperatives and social enterprises; firm creation and closure; human rights at work.

Current projects:
Provider Diversity in the NHS: Impact on Quality and Innovation, and Evaluation of Community Foundation Trust Programme, with colleagues from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (leading the projects) and Bristol University.  Funded by the UK Department of Health’s Reform Evaluation Programme.  These projects examine possible differences in performance between public, private for-profit and nonprofit healthcare providers and the factors that affect their entry and growth.

Compared Behaviour of Labour-Managed and Conventional Firms in collaboration with Paris-II University (France) and the University of Mondragon (Spain) funded by Spanish Basque government.

In the past Virginie Pérotin has also been awarded research and other grants by institutions including the Fulbright Foundation, the ESRC and CNRS, the Leverhulme Trust, the European Commission's Human Capital and Mobility fund and the French Ministry of Labour.
