Experience

Dr Sally Jones BA (Hons), PGCE, MSc, PhD is an experienced educator and project manager. Before joining the University of Leeds she previously worked at Bradford University School of Management as a Research Associate. She completed her PhD thesis - exploring gender, higher education and entrepreneurship – in 2011 and is building her research profile in this area. Sally is also currently a Research Associate at Dundalk Institute of Technology. Other roles prior to joining Leeds Enterprise Centre include Business and Community Development and Knowledge Transfer roles at the University of Huddersfield and Business Advice/Project Management roles at Artimedia (Batley) and the Women’s Electronic Village (Manchester).

Sally is currently a member of the Organising Committee for the Gender and Enterprise Network, (ISBE) and reviews for several entrepreneurship, education and gender focused journals. In addition to being a member of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) she is also a member of the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) and the Gender and Education Association (GEA).

Research

Research Interests

Gender and entrepreneurship; gender and entrepreneurship education in HE; gender and education; HE entrepreneurship education curriculum development; teaching and learning practices in post-compulsory education; entrepreneurship education policy discourse; the historical and political development of entrepreneurship policy and theory; Bourdieu’s theory of practice; educational sociology.

Sally has over 15 years experience of teaching and training in a variety of settings including FE, HE, creative industries, charities and the not-for-profit sector where she has taught multimedia, ICT, video production and business start-up courses. She has also managed several successful European Funded business training and support projects.
