Dr. Nathaniel Boso is a lecturer (or Assistant Professor) in Marketing at Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. Prior to this, he held Research Associate position at Loughborough University School of Business and Economics. Dr. Boso holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. In 2003, Dr. Boso enrolled on a Master degree programme at Umeå University, Sweden and was awarded an MSc in Marketing Research in 2004. During his Master’s degree programme, he developed an interest in export organisations and how such organisations might use a combination of marketing and entrepreneurial processes to enhance their performance in overseas markets. In his doctoral study at Loughborough University, Dr. Boso took this issue further by developing an export entrepreneurial-oriented behaviour construct, which he has studied among a large sample of exporting organisations with operations in the UK and Ghana. His doctoral studies were supported by a scholarship from Loughborough University.
His teaching interests include international marketing, marketing management, entrepreneurship and small business management. He is also a specialist educator in structural equation modelling (using LISREL and SMARTPLS). His research interests include international (export) marketing and entrepreneurship, innovation management, and research methodology. His research specifically focuses on examining how firms’ market, entrepreneurial and innovation orientations interact to drive export performance across different world economies: advanced, emerging and developing. His recent works are forthcoming in multiple internationally-recognised high impact journals such as the International Small Business Journal, and International Business Review.
He is also a regular speaker at international conferences on international marketing and entrepreneurship, and developing economy issues. His research has won multiple awards, including the prestigious 2011 Journal of Small Business Management (JSBM) Best Empirical Paper Award at the 25th United States Association of Small Business & Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Annual Conference. Dr. Boso is an active member of USASBE, the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Marketing Science and the European Marketing Academy.
Dr. Boso is the editorial assistant of the International Marketing Review, and he serves on the review panel of several top-tier academic journals as an ad hoc reviewer.
