Experience

After graduating with an excellent grade, Medhat worked as a teaching assistant and subsequently as a lecturer at Tanta University, Egypt, in the Faculty of Commerce. During this time Medhat was employed by Deloitte and Touche as a part time auditor and also as a part time instructer for CPA and CMA certificates.

Research

PhD

Mehat gained a governmental scholarship from the Egyptian government in 2006 to undertake his PhD studies in the UK; Medhat  started his PhD at Leeds University Business School in September 2007.

Medhat's research focuses on earnings management mitigation. The main focus of his research is the effect of IFRS reporting, auditor fees and audit firm tenure on earnings management in the UK.

Research Interests

Earnings Management, Earnings quality, Auditor fees, Auditor tenure, IFRS, Audit quality and Auditor opinions.

Teaching

Before his appointment as Teaching Fellow and now Lecturer, Medhat was employed at Leeds University Business School as a teaching assistant on the following modules:

  • Introduction to Accounting and Financial Management (LUBS1920)
  • Management Accounting 2 (LUBS2220)
  • Quantitative Methods (LUBS5000M)
