Experience

Alan is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over six years work experience with Deloitte & Touche in Zimbabwe, the United States of America and Canada.

Research

PhD

Alan's current PhD studies are seeking to examine the impact that mandatory IFRS adoption has had in both the United Kingdom and Australia on the accuracy of models used to forecast both earnings and cash flows. In light of this research, Alan is interested in cash flow disclosure and specifically the differential impact that the choice of either the direct or indirect method of disclosing cash flows has when used in models which forecast future earnings, cash flow and explain abnormal stock returns.

Alan also has a keen interest in the impact that the introduction of IFRS has had globally.

Teaching

Before his appointment as Teaching Fellow, Alan was employed at Leeds University Business School as a teaching assistant on the following modules:

  • Introductory Financial Accounting (LUBS1235)
  • Financial Accounting 2 (LUBS2210)
