The Institute of Banking and Investment (formally IIBFS) was established in 1995 with substantial corporate sponsorship to create an internationally acclaimed research centre.
Its research focus continues to evolve and to reflect the demands of the banking and investment industries. Its recent research has examined growth and risk, measures of systemic risk, governance within the banking sector, aspects of failure within the banking industry and the use of behavioural finance to build portfolios.
The Institute has the good fortune of being linked with many participants within the banking and investment sectors and this keeps its research fresh and relevant. This leads to its research findings being published in the best academic journals and continues to find interest from practitioners and regulators.
As well as its excellent connections with industry participants, it has first rate links across many countries – the US, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Korea, China, etc. This broad network gives the research an enviable international focus and relevance to the global financial system
