Dr Surender Munjal is Professor of International Business and Management. Prior to joining the University of Leeds, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Delhi. He is an expert on Indian economy and Indian multinational enterprises. He has published his research in top journals in the field of International Business, Economics and Management, including Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal of International Management and International Business Review. He sits on the editorial boards of Production and Operations Management Journal, International Business Review, Management International Review and Asian Business and Management.
He is an active member of the Academy of International Business (AIB), European International Business Academy (EIBA), and the British Academy of Management (BAM). He is the Founding Secretary of the Indian Academy of Management (INDAOM) and the Convenor of Doctoral Colloquium hosted by the AIB UK&Ireland Chapter.
Dr Munjal's research has attracted research grants and media attention. He is consulted by multinational enterprises and non-government organisations.He is a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society and sits on the panel of reviewers for the Commonwealth scholarship. He is also a member of the ESRCs peer review college.
Dr Munjal has taught at various levels, including executive development programmes, and has won various accolades for learning and teaching, such as the 'Deans Award for Excellence'. He has served on the Board of Governors of St. Peter's Church of England School in Leeds.

Research interests
Dr Surender Munjal is an expert on Indian economy and Indian multinational enterprises (MNEs). His research interest broadly lies in the following areas: Theories of International Business; Mergers and Acquisitions; Offshoring and Outsourcing; Consumer behaviour in emerging markets; International corporate financial management of emerging country MNEs; Headquarter-subsidiary relationships in emerging economies. In terms of geographical regions he is interested in India, South Asia and the Commonwealth.
Dr Munjal has publihsed his research in top journals in the field of International Business, Economics and Management, including Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal of International Management and International Business Review. He sits on the editorial boards of Production and Operations Management Journal, International Business Review, Management International Review and Asian Business and Management.

He has won various accoldates for his research at various academic forums, including the Best Paper Award at the Academy of International Business Conference, Finalist for the Buckley and Casson and Best Dissertation Award at the Academy of International Business and the ITC-Emerald Best Dissertation Award at the Academy of Management.
He was award seed money for his research project on 'Global Value Chains and Commonwealth' from LUBS Challanger Fund and a grant by the Commonwealth Secretariat (London). His research work has also attracted the attention of Reuters (UK), who interviewed him for his work on internationalisation strategies of Indian MNEs. Dr Munjal regularly disseminates his research to government departments, supranational organisations, and business associations.

He was nominated for the Leeds University Unions Partnership Award in the Inspirational Teaching Category.
